This blog is very special for me because someone asked me to express his views through my blog.If you have seen a latest bollywood movie named 'Oh My God' you must read this patiently and can comment your own views if you are also in favour or against these views.He thinks that movie is misleading the whole world through its misconceptions.I must say thanks to him for his efforts. Now proceeding in his own words-
The movie's view of bhakti and more specifically deity worship distressed me a lot.The more problematic to me is when movie claims this to be also the view of bhagavat-gita. The following verse is enough to prove this -
Bg 13.19 - Thus the field of activities [the body], knowledge and the knowable have been summarily described by Me. Only My devotees can understand this thoroughly and thus attain to My nature.
Bg 12.2 - Those who fix their minds on My personal form and are always engaged in worshiping Me with great and transcendental faith are considered by Me to be most perfect.
Which means that actually the worship to the lord ,in personal form(means Krishna is Krishna ) is said to be the highest of all.
And the more distressing is its view(which it claims to be krishna's view) of perfection.In the movie kanji(paresh rawal),who is an atheist is shown to be perfect.
Following is what bhagavat gita actually says about perfection:
Bg. 3.4 :Not by merely abstaining from work can one achieve freedom from reaction, nor by renunciation alone can one attain perfection.
Bg. 6.28 - Thus the self-controlled yogi, constantly engaged in yoga practice,becomes free from all material contamination and achieves the highest stage of perfect happiness in transcendental loving service to the Lord.
Which means that clearly attaining to human value is always good but perfect being are far far away and above the human values.But the unending illusion starts when we envelop ourselves with body ,society and the worldly affairs neglecting the soul,spirituality and the devotion of lord.
In the movie the worst part is where krishna manifest himself in front of Kanji,who in his past life was an atheist .He is everywhere where there is any need of manifestation.The question one might ask if he is, why don't we see him.The answer is because our consciousness is covered by the sons of mind namely lust, anger,greed, illusion, madness and envy.
In bhagavat gita krishna says
Bg. 3.38 - As fire is covered by smoke, as a mirror is covered by dust, or as the embryo is covered by the womb, the living entity is similarly covered by different degrees of this lust.
Bg. 3.40 - The senses, the mind and the intelligence are the sitting places of this lust. Through them lust covers the real knowledge of the living entity and bewilders him.
And due to this envelop of lust and reactions of our past sins we are not able to perceive all pervading krishna one.
Another question we can ask if krishna is all pervading, is there any need to worship deity.Actually as krishna says our consciousness is covered by the lust,we are not qualified enough to see him everywhere even if He exists everywhere.Why we take the photograph of our parents when we are going away from them.Because in that,it is easy for us to feel them.
The another worst part is actually where krishna says that "krishna roop " is not his actual form.Actually that is the most original form of krishna.
So as we see that the whole movie claims to be authorised by gita and krishna,but the reality is that it never is.Actually 90% movie is completely misleading (I am still to watch rest 10%,Probably I never will).
Finally I would like to present the translation my favorite verse(its big but please read it whole ).
Humility; pridelessness; nonviolence; tolerance; simplicity;
approaching a bonafide spiritual master; cleanliness; steadiness; self-control;
renunciation of the objects of sense gratification; absence of false ego; the
perception of the evil of birth, death, old age and disease; detachment; freedom
from entanglement with children, wife, home and the rest; even-mindedness
amid pleasant and unpleasant events; constant and unalloyed devotion to Me;
aspiring to live in a solitary place; detachment from the general mass of people;
accepting the importance of self-realization; and philosophical search for the
Absolute Truth-all these I declare to be knowledge, and besides this whatever
there may be is ignorance.
Nice.
