I know that answer will vary from person to person.Somebody will say Poverty, someone will say cyber crime or religious riots or many other serious calamities.But obviously one cannot neglect corruption.Corruption is eating India slowly and slowly from roots to the top in every field such as society ,telecom ,medical,  technical,sports just like a termite.And this chain starts from the common man and never ends but it goes from the hands of ministers,doctors,police and other high profile officers. In the past few years many cases like 2G,Telgi,Satyam,Bofors ,CWG, ACS scams and the scams continues.Here is the link of all scams in India post Indepedence on Wiki whose first line say
